Characteristics and Guardianship Status of Children Undergoing Forensic Medical and Psychological Evaluation for Asylum in Miami

Particularly concerning from a human rights perspective is the sharp increase in the number of migrant children arriving in the United States. In 2022, over 300,000 children were apprehended at the United States–Mexico border, a five-fold increase since 2008. The number of unaccompanied children—those most at risk of exploitation, violence, and neglect—also rose seventeen-fold between 2008 and 2019.......[Citing TRAC Data and reports].
