By the end of fiscal year 2024, the pending case backlog had grown to some 3.6 million, according to the most recent report on immigration court backlogs by CRS.
“In the last decade or so, it really feels like it’s only grown,” Dojaquez-Torres said.
Data from EOIR compiled by TRAC does show a slight decrease in pending cases from 3.7 million at the end of fiscal year 2024 to 3.6 million as of February 2025. There’s been a similar decrease in the backlog in Connecticut, the TRAC data shows, from 46,053 at the end of fiscal year 2024 to 44,735 as of February.
