Migration-Related Trauma Among Asylum Seekers Exposed to the Migrant Protection Protocols

Asylum seekers are individuals who apply for international protection due to fears of persecution or violence in their home countries. In 2024, the United Nations estimated that 123.2 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide due to persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations, or other events disturbing public order. Among these displaced individuals, many sought asylum in countries with established protective programs, such as the US, where pending asylum cases exceeded 2.2million in 2025......[Citing TRAC data and reports].
