Roughly 60,311 people were being held in ICE detention as of April 4, according to the most recent data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, a nonpartisan research center at Syracuse University. Of those detainees, about 70.8% had no criminal convictions, either none at all or only minor offenses like traffic violations. In December 2025, the month Araya-Davis was detained, ICE detained 42,116 people, the highest monthly total that year and the most since May 2019. |
