There were 50 denaturalization lawsuits filed by the Department of Justice in July, according to Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. That’s the most ever in recent memory.
There were 18 denaturalization cases filed in June, which migrant advocates at the time thought was a whopping number. But now it’s more than doubled.
There were only eight cases filed to strip naturalized citizens of their citizenship in all of 2025. But since January, there have been 105 denaturalization cases filed nationwide.
Lawsuits were filed in 23 states in July alone, TRAC reports.
Florida had the most, with nine cases, followed by seven in Texas; six in Maryland and two in California.
