In October 2025 U.S. Attorneys acted on 814 ATF referrals they had received, charging 638 defendants or 78 percent, with crimes in U.S. district courts and closing 176 ATF referrals without prosecution.

U.S. Attorneys reported taking an average of 517 days days between receipt of a ATF criminal referral and reaching either sentencing or not guilty verdict in court during October 2025.

In October 2025, U.S. Attorneys reported out of 687 prosecutions of ATF-led investigations, a total of 628 defendants were convicted (or 91%), while 59 were not convicted.

In October 2025 U.S. Attorneys reported more individuals convicted in ATF-led investigations relative to population size in the Montana than in any other federal district.
