In September 2025 U.S. Attorneys acted on 1,230 DEA referrals they had received, charging 725 defendants or 59 percent, with crimes in U.S. district courts and closing 505 DEA referrals without prosecution.

U.S. Attorneys reported taking an average of 774 days days between receipt of a DEA criminal referral and reaching either sentencing or not guilty verdict in court during September 2025.

In September 2025, U.S. Attorneys reported out of 968 prosecutions of DEA-led investigations, a total of 824 defendants were convicted (or 85%), while 144 were not convicted.
