In July 2025 U.S. Attorneys acted on 1,758 FBI referrals they had received, charging 937 defendants or 53 percent, with crimes in U.S. district courts and closing 821 FBI referrals without prosecution.

U.S. Attorneys reported taking an average of 773 days days between receipt of a FBI criminal referral and reaching either sentencing or not guilty verdict in court during July 2025.

In July 2025, U.S. Attorneys reported out of 1,158 prosecutions of FBI-led investigations, a total of 1,010 defendants were convicted (or 87%), while 148 were not convicted.

In July 2025 U.S. Attorneys reported more individuals convicted in FBI-led investigations relative to population size in the W Virg, S than in any other federal district.

In July 2025, U.S. Attorneys reported that individuals convicted in U.S. district courts after investigations led by the FBI received a median prison sentence of 60 months.
